5 Pillars of Islam Infographic Project
What is an infographic?

One thing to note: For this assignment, infographics are not to be confused with advertisements or persuasive posters even thought they are sometimes used that way. In other words, your goal with this assignment is not to convince people to follow Islam, but rather to display the fundamental beliefs that Muslims adhere to in their practice of the religion.
Your Task:
This project is intended challenge you to translate written information into visual information. However, this is not as easy as simply finding pictures. You will be using information symbolically to communicate rather than to simply show. Think of flow charts and diagrams you've seen... that's the general idea.
To make your infographic you will be using a free tool on the internet called easel.ly.
You DO NOT need to create an account - one has already been created for you!
To begin your infographic, do the following:
- Read the information in your packet about The Five Pillars of Islam (you can see a copy here)
- Watch the video on this page called How to make an infographic with easel.ly
- Use easel.ly to create an infographic about the 5 pillars of Islam! (directions for easel.ly are below)
- Your infographic must include the following:
- An introduction section with a title and a short explanation of what the 5 pillars are and where they come from
- A section or area for each of the 5 pillars (so that would be 5 sections) that uses visuals as well as words to describe each pillar
- Each pillar description should include what people must do as well as what the symbolic meaning of the pillar is.
To make your infographic you will be using a free tool on the internet called easel.ly.

To begin your infographic, do the following:
- Visit http://www.easel.ly/ and click on "Login"
- Your username is your JPS username (for example: 2017mmouse)
- Your password is as follows:

for 6th hour: rDTi1dej - Once you are logged in, you can select a template and begin creating! The video above does a great job of showing you how to use easel.ly, but if you have questions ask a neighbor or ask Mr. Johnson!
