Unit 5:  The Renaissance & Reformation

Leonardo DaVinci & Michelangelo:  Icons of the Renaissance Compared
Watch the two documentaries to the right and take notes about the following characteristics of each artist:
  • What was their childhood like?  Their adult life?  What personal issues did they face?
  • What were their most famous works of art?
  • What themes were common in their work? (Engineering?  Religious?  Medical?  Scientific?)
Turn in your notes for completion credit when you are finished!

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY:
Using the notes  you took while watching the biographies of each artist, create a graphic organizer comparing and contrasting them to one another.  Either a venn diagram or a compare/contrast map would work well.  Your graphic organizer must contain the following:
  • 3 unique characteristics of each artist
  • 4 characteristics that the two men have in common.
The more detailed you are, the more extra credit you get!
